When Social Media Can Bomb!

What would you do if you had a friend, colleague, buddy,
pal, chum; someone who you never thought would betray you over a Facebook
picture you posted that were of your children that you were tagged in and
assumed that you were there, well you were there but it was assumed on a
different day!
Scenario: A picture
was taken on a Friday with your family and friends at a park having a great
time playing Frisbee golf and hanging out, the next day you download the
pictures to Facebook and tag your friends and hubby in them to share the good
times; the next thing you know you’re at work being blamed for leaving work
early on Saturday to play Frisbee golf….see the problem. People can’t assume that the day you post the
pictures is the day that you took the pictures.
The pictures were taken on Friday at the park during Frisbee golf and
hubby left work early due to overstaffing on Saturday, and since the pictures
were posted on Saturday the assumptions started to fly. Starting rumors at work
and getting people in trouble over crap like this is absurd, nothing wrong was
done, and it was different days. Who
gives you the right to get people in trouble before finding out the real scenario?
This is where social media can go wrong.
If you plan on participating in social media
adventures and scoping out other peoples social media pages, be prepared to ask questions, confront and/or text message people
privately before possibly ruining their job.
If you are their friend act like it.
